John B. (Johnny) Echols Jr., 77, of Summerville, Georgia, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2016, at his residence.
He was born in Summerville, GA on Aug. 11, 1939, to the late John Berry Echols, Sr. and Elsie Hawkins Echols Johnson. Mr. Echols was owner/operator of Echols Appliance in Summerville, was a fireman with the City of Summerville and had served as Fire Chief for many years. He was a member of the Summerville First United Methodist Church and a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. Mr. Echols was preceded in death by his wife the late Pamela A. Tawzer Echols.
He is survived by his daughter & spouse, Terri & Tim Young; sons & spouse, Greg & Karen Echols and Jim Echols; sister & spouse, Honey & Dale Housch; grandchildren, Matthew, Jessica, and Rachael Echols; Emily, Hannah and Ethan Young and Aile and A. J. Echols; four great-grandchildren;and nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. from Graveside in Summerville Cemetery, with Dr. Ed Judy officiating. Active Pallbearers will be Ethan Young, Matt Echols, Nathan Flood, Ben Housch, Eric Housch and Casey Mann.
The Family will receive friends Saturday after 1 p.m. at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the Family request contributions to the City of Summerville Fire Department.
