AAF Chattanooga Issues American Advertising Awards Call For Entries

  • Wednesday, December 21, 2016

The American Advertising Federation Chattanooga has issued its Call-for-Entries for the 2016-2017 American Advertising Awards Competition, a three-tier, national competition for advertising professionals and students. The AAA competition honors advertising excellence created in the Chattanooga metropolitan market in all media including online/interactive, film/video & sound, print, cross platform and out-of home.

Entry in the local AAA competition is the first step toward winning a national ADDY award. Winners in the Chattanooga market are eligible to compete at the District Level, the second tier. District winners are then forwarded to the third tier, the national AAA competition.

“This past year we saw several Chattanooga companies win Gold awards at a District level, and a few went on to win National awards," said Brittany Lloyd, American Advertising Awards chair. "Chattanooga has proven they can compete on a national level, and we’d like to see that trend continue and grow this year.”

Coming off of last year’s wins, competition is expected to be tight, said officials. An anticipated 300-350 professional entries will be judged by a panel of advertising creative executives, gathered from different regions outside the Chattanooga market. The same judges will review the student entries, from which the Best of Show winner will be awarded a $1,500 scholarship by AAF Chattanooga.

“We would love to see at least 35-40 student entries,” said Terry Baker, president of AAF. “Students who have entered in the past have gone on to secure internships and jobs with local companies who have seen their work at the American Advertising Awards show.”

All entries must be received online by Jan. 11, and physically dropped off on Jan. 15, at the Chattanooga Theater Center. Entry fees are $65 per entry for members of AAF Chattanooga, $75 for non-members and $30 for student entries. Only new creative work produced in the Chattanooga market and published or aired between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31 is eligible for consideration in the professional competition.
