The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office charged Joshua Brent Bowman on Monday during the early stages of investigating a residential burglary in the Wilson Heights subdivision.

Sheriff Eric Watson attributed the arrest of the suspect to a proactive response by patrol deputies with assistance from criminal division investigators and the valuable assistance of neighborhood residents.

The patrol response was the result of a call to the 911 Communications Center from the neighborhood reporting a suspicious person on foot. In their initial response deputies could not find the individual fitting the person's description, but found Bowman after a second response just over an hour later.

Through further investigation and with the assistance of the Charleston Police Department, several power tools that were taken in the burglary were found. Also recovered through additional investigation were electronic equipment, a handgun and some loose change.

All of the missing property was recovered.

Bowman, 19, of Timberhill Drive, was charged with aggravated burglary and theft over $1,000.
