A three-year-old child has died after being shot Monday morning inside a car at Apison.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched at 9:18 a.m. to 4724 Gates Lane on a report of a three-year-old child having been shot. Deputies arrived at the residence around 9:30 a.m.
The preliminary investigation conducted by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office indicates the child was shot while inside the family’s vehicle while parked at the Gates Lane address.
The victim was transported to an area hospital by Hamilton County Emergency Services.
Once at the hospital, the child was pronounced deceased by attending medical personnel.
The investigation into the child’s death is ongoing. The Hamilton County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct its investigation into the cause and manner of death of the child.
