Douglas Ray Shelton, 59, of Delano, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Starr Regional Medical Center, Athens, TN.
Son of Winston and Irene Shelton, he loved to spend time with his Dad working on lawn mowers
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Woodley “Button” Shelton; nephews, Keith and Paul; niece, Jennifer; two great-nieces; one great-nephew; and a host of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 7 at Higgins Funeral Home with the Reverend Johnny Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Delano Cemetery with military honors. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Hawkins, Johnny Russell, Charles Ferry, Zeb Shelton, Nathan Swafford and Jeffery Sneed.
The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 7 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home, who has charge of the arrangements.
