Jeannette Burkhart
Clara Jeannette Smith Burkhart, 86, of Chattanooga, died on Sunday, April 10, 2016 in a local health care facility.
She was born May 31, 1929, in Rhea County, Tn. to the late Walter and Nora Smith.
Mrs. Burkhart was retired from the Electric Power Board after many years of service. She was a member of Hixson First Baptist Church.
One of her many hobbies was square dancing with the Dayton Scoot Backs.
Her husband, Gene Burkhart and five siblings, Margie Morrison, Imogene Hester, Helen Smith, Anna Ruth Hester, and Grover Smith preceded her in death.
Survivors include three sons, Douglas (Kathy) Burkhart of Chattanooga, William Burkhart of Hillsbrough, North Carolina, and Wade Burkhart of Weiden, Germany; one sister, Willadean Mullins of Pensacola, Florida; three granddaughters, Beth (Nick) Higdon, Jeana (Michael) Roeser, and Jessica Whitener all of Chattanooga; five great-grandchildren, Matthew, Trent, Gracie, Lila, and Clara Beth all of Chattanooga; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 12, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 13, at 1 p.m. in the North Chapel with Reverend Ed Gravett officiating. Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
