Saturday Night Fire Damages East Ridge Community Center

A fire on Saturday night damaged the East Ridge Community Center.

Officials said the entrance was burned and there was smoke damage inside.

The fire broke out shortly before 9 p.m. The first arriving firefighters found flames coming from a garbage can near the building's entrance and going up the side of the building.

The fire was quickly extinguished, but the center was expected to be closed for several days.
