Robert Emmett Ashby, Jr., 80, of Hixson, Tennessee, died on Friday, April 29, 2016, at Soddy Daisy Healthcare Center. 

He was born and raised in Madisonville, Ky. Emmett had lived in Hixson for the past 25 years and retired from Wal-Mart. He was a member of The Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. He enjoyed horseback riding, motorcycle riding and boating with his family.

Emmett was predeceased by his parents, Robert Emmett Ashby, Sr. and Virginia Phillips Ashby; sister, Jane Hendricks and brother, Daryl Ashby.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Wheeler Ashby; daughters, Ledra Ashby (Sam) Bugg of West Chester, OH and Valerie Ashby (Bart) Scherschel of Lutz, FL; brother, Dwight Ashby of Rock Spring, GA; grandchildren, Samuel (Carolyn) Bugg IV of Denver, CO, Kalyn (Chris) Nesbitt of Atlanta,  Morgan Scherschel, Blake Scherschel and Loren Scherschel of Lutz, FL.

A special thanks to the staff of Soddy Daisy Healthcare Center and Yvonne and Tom Schuman.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 7, at 3 p.m. CDT at Bethlehem Christian Church, 95 Central City Road, Madisonville, KY 42431.
