Joe Bill Denson, 90, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away Monday, April 4, 2016 at his home.
He was born Feb. 10, 1926 in Spartanburg, SC. He was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and was a veteran of WWII serving in the U. S. Navy. He was a charter member of the Pleasant Grove Masonic Lodge, #702 F&AM and also a member of the YAARAB Shrine Temple of Atlanta.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bettie Brooker Denson; parents, Walter & Lena Denson; and sister, Neva Parker.
He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Donna & Don Douglas and Mary Denson, all of Dalton; sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny & Kay Denson and Scott & Pat Denson, all of Dalton; sister, Barbara Morgan of Florida; grandchildren, Jeff & Debbie Douglas of Dalton, Mark & Chris Douglas of Richmond Hill, Georgia and Brad & Lindsay Douglas of Dalton, Jason & Andrea Denson of Dalton, Aaron & Amanda Denson of Bentonville, AR and Preston & Mikki Denson of Dalton, Beth & Ryan Bryson of Clarksville, TN; great-grandchildren, Jake Douglas, Shelby Douglas, Will Douglas, Tyler Douglas and Levi Douglas, all of Dalton, Judd Douglas & Grace Douglas of Richmond Hill, Nikki Hollis, Brett Hollis, Jace Denson and Wade Denson, all of Dalton, Peyton Denson, Reese and Bryce Denson of Bentonville, AR, Ellie and Noah Bryson of Clarksville, TN; nieces, Jane Smith and Beth Hagman; and nephews, Mike Hackney and David Morgan.
The memorial service will be held Thursday, April 7, at 3 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Mullis officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 1 p.m. until the service hour at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society, 200 West Emory St. Suite 3, Dalton, GA 30720.
