Riding down Market Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard in a patriotic-themed float, residents at Morning Pointe of Chattanooga at Shallowford paraded at the 67th annual Armed Forces Day parade, waving flags that symbolized each branch of military service.
More assisted living residents followed in a 1949 Willys Jeepster; with enthusiasm, they showed support for servicemen and servicewomen to all of the parade spectators.
As a part of the Life Enrichment Program, Morning Pointe residents regularly take part in events that recognize the sacrifices of veterans and their families during patriotic- and historic-themed events all year around.
The Chattanooga Armed Forces Day Parade is the longest-running parade of its kind in the country.
Present at the parade were area veterans and veterans groups, local high school bands and JROTC units among other guests and patriotic organizations. This year's parade gave a special honor to the Marines.
