DEO Clinic To Sponsor An Afternoon Of Classical Music May 22

A benefit concert for the DEO Clinic will be held at the First Presbyterian Church at 101 S. Selvidge St. in the heart of Dalton on Sunday, May 22, at 2:30 p.m. The concert will feature harpist Caroline Brown Hudson. She will be joined by violinist Josh Holritz, and flautist Kristen Holritz. 

Ms. Hudson, originally from Dalton, is the principal Harpist for the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra and harp instructor at Covenant College.  Prior to her move to Chattanooga, her career as a harpist was focused in the Washington, D.C. area. She performed with the National Symphony Orchestra for 15 years including tours to Japan, Europe and South America. Ms. Hudson also played principal harp for the Washington Opera on tour to Japan with Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras.  

Other highlights include being the featured soloist at the Kennedy Center with the Washington Chamber Orchestra, performing at the televised Statue of Liberty Restoration Ceremony and accompanying Renee Fleming on a TNT Television special for President George W. Bush. 

Mr. Holritz is the associate concertmaster for the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera. Mr. Holritz performed as soloist, orchestral, and chamber musician in Canada, England, Austria, South Africa, Japan, and in more than 20 states around the continental United States. 

Ms. Holritz holds the principal flute position with the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera. In addition to her orchestral responsibilities, she appears with the Chattanooga Symphony Wind Quintet in schools across Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama. She also performs extensively with Schaafritz, a duo with her husband, violinist Mr. Holritz. Schaafritz has performed across the United States and toured Japan twice.
