Rita Carpenter, 66, of Rocky Face, Georgia, died on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

She was a dedicated court reporter for over 40 years in Dalton / Whitfield County. She was a member at Tunnel Hill First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Felt and Johnnie Ruth Carpenter; brother, Donnie Carpenter; and sister-in-law, Cheryl Carpenter.

She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Carole and Bradley Putnam of Tunnel Hill; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike and Becky Carpenter of Rocky Face, Rick Carpenter and Chrissie Elrod of Tunnel Hill; brother, Charles “Toodie” Carpenter of Atlanta; nieces and nephew, Sharon Putnam, Shannon and Brian Fox, Brad, Kit, Kevan and Kasey Carpenter, Mikey, Nathan and Chris Carpenter; and several great-nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, May 22, at 4 p.m. at the Rocky Face Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Tyson Griffin and Rev. Dewey Boyd officiating. Burial will be in Gordy Memorial Gardens in Tunnel Hill. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday May 21, from 5-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to Tunnel Hill First Baptist Church Sanctuary Fund.
