James “Jimmy” Garvin Johnson Jr., 68, of LaFayette, Georgia, died on Saturday, May 21, 2016.
Mr. Johnson was born on July 9, 1947 in DeKalb County, AL but was a lifelong resident of Walker County. Before his retirement he was an over-the-road truck driver for 30 years.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, James Garvin Johnson, Sr. and Annie Miller Johnson; sister, Elizabeth Anne Johnson; two brothers, John Wayne Johnson and William Christopher “Chris” Johnson; grandson, Roy Dillion Cody; step-son, William “Billy” Lister; and former wife, Linda Ramey.
He is survived by his daughter, Jammie Diane Johnson Cody of LaFayette formerly of TX and her mother, Diane Wilson Johnson Bowman of Quinlan TX; grandsons, Cody Lamar Johnson and wife, Nicole of Austin, TX., Keith Charles “K.C.” Cody and fiancé, Amanda Cole of Paris, TX.; great grandchildren, Story Fallon Cody of Paris, TX, Alyssa M. Cantu, Adam Cantu, twins, Joseph and Joel Cantu all of Austin, TX; sisters, Judy Johnson Williams and husband, Elmer, and Brenda Johnson Wilson all of LaFayette; nephews, James Timothy “Tim” Wilson and fiancé, Michele Pence of LaFayette; nieces, Rita A. Castillo, Mary Ann Lawson, Joyce Williams Green and husband, Eric, Rachel Williams Mitchell and husband, Brian Mitchell, Roxanne Wilson Davis and husband, William Davis, Christie Johnson Camp and fiancé, Micky Barnett and Christina Johnson Dodd and husband, Kenny Dodd all of LaFayette; sisters-in-law, Ruby Jo Johnson of Bridgeport, AL and Sue Zanne Johnson of Summerville; step-daughters, Margaret Lister Lacey of Albertville, AL and Tammy Ramey Wilson of Summerville; step-son, Jason Johnson of Quinlan, TX, Danny Hilton and David Hilton both of Virginia; several great-nieces and nephews; and special friends, Ralph and Mary Hinton and Wesley “Mousey” Bell all of LaFayette.

Funeral from the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel will be on Sunday, May 29 at 4 p.m. with Chaplain, Marv Eskew officiating. Following the service there will be a celebration in memory of Jimmy’s life on the family farm at 909 Probasco Street LaFayette. Everyone is invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, Jimmy has requested donations be made to the Texas Children Hospital, Dallas, TX, in honor of his great granddaughter, Story Fallon Cody.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 2 p.m. until service time.
