An investigation by special agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has resulted in a Crossville woman being charged with stealing from someone for whom she served as power of attorney.

At the request of 13th District Attorney General Bryant Dunaway, on Jan. 4, special agents with the TBI joined investigators with the District Attorney’s office in investigating Janice Kay Reed on a theft complaint. During the course of the investigation, agents developed information that Ms. Reed had served as caretaker and power of attorney for a Crossville woman. The investigation showed that from April 2008 through August 2015, Ms. Reed was the individual responsible for stealing funds from that victim.

On Monday, the Cumberland County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Ms. Reed with one count of Theft over $60,000. Ms. Reed turned herself in to authorities on Monday, and was booked into the Cumberland County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
