Trampled By Turtles

Blood, Sweat & Tears with Bo Bice performed a great show last night at Riverbend, in my opinion. Bice did a fantastic job with the vocals and the band was killer. Me likey.

I was never a huge Heart fan, but after watching them last night, I am now. They rocked the festival and still had the great vocals that made them famous decades ago.

Trampled By Turtles, the huge bluegrass/jamgrass group, are on the schedule for tonight’s action on the Coke Stage, as is Country star Chris Young. Festival favorites Trampled By Turtles appear at 6:30 p.m., followed by Country crooner Chris Young at 9:30 p.m.

Trampled have been very successful, nabbing 3 number one albums of the eight they have released. The Duluth, Minnesota band has been together for 13 years.

Chris Young has released five studio albums, all of which went to the top ten on Billboard’s Country charts. His latest album, released last fall, went to number one. He has a bucket load of number one singles, as well as 4 wins on the major awards shows. His latest Album, I’m Comin’ Over, went straight to number one status upon its debut.

The Bud Light Stage sees the homecoming of Chattanooga area rising star Kane Brown. His latest EP was released just a few weeks ago and has already shot to number 9 on the Country Charts. Many area high schools can claim Kane Brown as a former student, including Red Bank, Lakeview-Ft. Oglethorpe, Ridgeland, and Soddy Daisy. At one time, he even lived in his car. He then started recording songs and using social media to promote them. His videos have garnered several million views in just days after their release. Kane Brown was noticed by the big agencies and record companies, eventually signing with Sony and William Morris Endeavors. Look for him on the Bud Light Stage at 8 p.m.

Prior to Kane Brown, the Bud Light stage plays host to Firefall, the Colorado based band that had several hits in the 70’s and 80’s. You’ll remember their hits “You Are The Woman” and “Just Remember I Love You”. The Marsha Morgan Band, a rock/beach music band from Myrtle Beach, SC opens the stage at 5:15 p.m.

Up the hill on the Unum Stage, The Damsels open at 6:30, followed by Justin Todd Herod at 8:00. Rocker Davy Knowles, formerly of Backdoor Slam closes out the night at 9:30 p.m.

The TVFCU Stage sees the popular Molly Maguires back at Riverbend for a rousing 75 minute set. Blending rock and roll with blues, country and gospel sounds, Roosterfoot will entertain you from 8:00 – 9:15 p.m. The East Texas band has become a real festival favorite. Austin Texas blues band The Peterson Brothers comes to Riverbend in their first Chattanooga appearance. Protégés of Gary Clark Jr., these two young men have taken Austin by storm.

The Chevy Stage has two acts worth the price of a Riverbend admission all by themselves. Continuum opens at 6:00 and is followed by Permagroove at 7:30 p.m.

My pick of the day for Sunday has to be Kane Brown, as a local, homegrown fellow makes it big. Look for him at 8 p.m. on the Bud Light Stage. Catch him on the Coke stage in the next year or two.

Don’t forget to scan your wristband with your barcode reader on your cell-phone. That will automatically register you to win a new $19,000 camper from Dunlap RV.
