City Of Lakesite July 4th Holiday Safety Announcement

  • Friday, June 24, 2016

As the July 4th holiday weekend approaches, the City Commission would like to offer the following reminders in hopes Lakesite residents will have a safe, restful, and enjoyable holiday weekend, said officials.

The city of Lakesite will host a fireworks display on Sunday night, July 3, beginning at dark (approximately 9 p.m). During this time, the Dallas Bay Fire Department will be onsite to make sure all fireworks discharged as part of the display are done so in a safe and secure manner and so that no dry areas are accidentally caught on fire due to embers or stray firework material.

As many Lakesite residents are aware, the month of June has been very dry with little rain, high temperatures, and meteorologists are not forecasting any real change in the future. Residents should use precautions when grilling or utilizing fire pits so as to prevent ground fires. A water hose should always be kept nearby when operating a gas grill, charcoal grill or fire pit.

Lakesite city ordinances prohibit the use of unsanctioned fireworks within Lakesite city limits. During the period of July 3 and 4, additional law enforcement personnel will be on hand to make sure residents are safe and are not discharging fireworks within city limits. Anyone found to be shooting fireworks within city limits could be subjected to a citation or arrest.

There will be several activities in honor of the July 4th holiday for Lakesite residents near City Hall on July 3. Residents may check out the city’s official Facebook page, contact City Hall at 842-2533, or visit the official city website at http://www.lakesitetn.gov/ for more details.
