Star Walk Offered At Harrison Bay Sept. 10

  • Tuesday, July 19, 2016

The Star Walk at Harrison Bay State Park will be Saturday, Sept. 10, at 6:30 p.m.

The Barnard Astronomical Society of Chattanooga and the Friends of Harrison Bay State Park invite the public to the unveiling of The Star Walk. Much time, energy, and financial support have gone into the preparation and creation of this educational tool in the community.

The Star Walk, inspired by the Grossmugl Star Walk in Austria, is a self-guided tour that encourages astronomical and environmental observation with the unaided eye.  Participants walk through a 1/2 mile gravel loop that houses 13 separate Star Walk stations as well as a giant planisphere or star wheel.

There will be more information to come in the upcoming weeks.  To stay up to date on events, please visit the Facebook pages at https://www.facebook.com/BarnardAstro/ and https://www.facebook.com/FriendsOfHarrisonBay/.

Sponsors are Tennessee State Parks, Friends of Harrison Bay State Park, Barnard Astronomical Society, Miller Industries, Dendyhill Graphics, Inc., Scenic City Photography, Project Nightflight.
