William Max Riden, 72, the suspect from the 1900 Dowlen Road shooting on Friday, turned himself in to Chattanooga Police investigators.  He is charged with attempted second-degree murder and possession of a firearm.

Riden told police that the man in the other vehicle, 66-year-old Cletus Harvey, was driving aggressively. He said Harvey got out of his vehicle and was trying to get in his vehicle and punch him when he fired a shot.

Police said the shot entered the victim's right arm, then penetrated his right chest.

At 9:32 a.m. Friday, Chattanooga Police officers responded to 1900 Dowlen Road on a person shot.

Police said Harvey told them that a vehicle was following him too closely so he stopped, got out of his vehicle and said something to the driver who was following him. He said the man then shot him and drove off.

The shooting victim was transported to a local hospital by Hamilton County EMS.

The shooter was driving what was described as a 2002 black GMC pickup truck with TN tag 357WGF.

Riden called police dispatch to turn himself in.

Bond in the case was set at $10,000.
