Police Arrest Edwards For Aggravated Robbery

  • Monday, August 15, 2016

Steven R. Black told Chattanooga police that Christopher Lee Edwards, 20, and an unknown woman robbed him very early Wednesday morning at his home. Mr. Black said he had known Edwards for a few weeks and that he had invited him into his home Tuesday evening.

Mr. Black said someone knocked on his door and Edwards let an unknown light skinned/biracial woman into the home. The woman was armed with a rifle which was handed over to Edwards, said Mr. Black. The pair then demanded property while holding Mr. Black at gunpoint.  Mr. Black said they took around $5,000 in jewelry, personal property and his 2010 Nissan Altima during the robbery.

Police said they located the Nissan Altima at 1317 Pleasant St. in East Ridge on Wednesday around 11:30 a.m. with three people in it.  The male driver said he had just borrowed the vehicle at 901 Altamaha St. from a white man and a biracial woman named "Kiara" or "Tiara".  Police contacted Mr. Black who arrived and collected the vehicle.

Mr. Black said he had been speaking with Christopher Edwards on social media and said he had a Facebook page. He was able to further describe the female suspect as having knotted puffs of hair. Police reviewed Edwards' Facebook and located Kiara McDaniel.  McDaniel matched the unknown biracial female's description.  Police determined McDaniel had a Honeysuckle Lane address. Mr. Black had also said he saw Edwards on Tombras Avenue while in route to collect his vehicle.

Police went to Edwards' residence at 5297 Spriggs St. and spoke with his mother.  She said she had picked her son up on Honeysuckle Lane in Chattanooga earlier in the morning and that he was walking in the Tombras Avenue area to use a public Wi-Fi connection.

Police located Edwards at the East Ridge Library. He was detained and advised of his Miranda Rights. Edwards further identified McDaniel by name as the biracial female who had knocked upon the door and entered with .22 rifle.

Edwards was arrested after the interview.  McDaniel was located at 5512 Honeysuckle and found with property taken in the robbery on her body. Jewelry and electronics taken during the crime were also located at the home.
