Lacy, Ita Ball (Cleveland)

Ita Ball Lacy97, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away Saturday afternoon, August 20, 2016 in a Chattanooga hospital. 

She was born July 28, 1919 to the late John M. and Louella Wooten Ball. A lifelong resident of Cleveland and Bradley County, Mrs. Lacy lived in the Valley View community and was the oldest living member of Cedar Springs Baptist Church where she grew up and taught Sunday School Classes until her early nineties.

She was a graduate of Tennessee Wesleyan and Lee University and taught in various elementary schools in Bradley County, retiring from Oak Grove Elementary after 30 years of service to that school.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Hayden M. Lacy in 2009; her brothers, Alvin Ball, Jessie Ball, Bill Ball, Joe Ball, Ralph Ball and Walter Ball; and sisters, Nellie Ball, Essie Cox and Anna White.

Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn Lacy Goins and her husband, James R. Goins; grandchildren, Mark R. Goins and wife, Glenda McPeake Goins of Ringgold, GA and Lacy Goins Paschal and husband, Justin of Nashville; two great-grandchildren, Sarah Bennett Goins of Ringgold, GA and Hayden Samuel Paschal of Nashville; one sister-in-law, Kathyrn Ball of Cleveland; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with Dr. Jay McCluskey and the Reverend Leroy Elliott officiating.  Interment will follow in Cedar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Gene Cox, Gary Ball, Ronnie Ball, Terry Bowden, Terry Calfee and John Foy serving as pallbearers.

Her family will receive friends on Monday, Aug. 22 from 5-8 p.m. at the Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home, who has charge of the arrangements.
