  • Monday, January 30, 2017

CARTA announced that beginning this Wednesday, it will add four (4) new bus passes to provide its customers with more fare options.

Veronica Peebles, CARTA’s Manager of Communications, said the agency will offer a 7 Day Unlimited Ride Pass, a Reduced 7 Day Unlimited Ride Pass (available to those eligible for the reduced fare program), a Reduced 31 Day Unlimited Ride Pass (available to those eligible for the reduced fare program), and the CARTA Flex Pass that allows you to pay as you ride without losing any value for when you do not ride.  “Since the inception of our existing fare structure nine years ago, we have noticed the different travel patterns of our customers and how they pay bus fare.  Because of their varied schedules and travel plans, we want to provide additional fare options that may fit their needs more with better value”, said Ms. Peebles.

The 7 Day Unlimited Ride Pass will cost $15, the Reduced 7 Day Unlimited Ride Pass will cost $7.50, which customers must present the CARTA Special Fare ID card or the Student Bye Pass card to purchase and use it, the Reduced 31 Day Unlimited Ride Pass will cost $25 and also requires the Special Fare ID or Student Bye Pass cards, and the CARTA Flex Pass will cost $2 to purchase and can accept any amount up to $30.

The new CARTA bus passes can only be purchased at CARTA’s administrative office located at 1617 Wilcox Boulevard or at the Chattanooga Parking Authority on Market Street, but can be recharged aboard any CARTA bus when they expire.  “CARTA will still offer the 24 Hour Unlimited Ride Pass and the 31 Day Unlimited Ride pass.  We hope that our customers will find great value with these new additions to our bus fares”, Ms. Peebles said.
