The Georgia Northwestern golf team braved 33-degree weather, bitterly cold winds and snow flurries at Dogwood Hills Golf Course in Flatrock, Ala. on Sunday in the first round of a three-team, 36-hole match against Northeast Alabama Community College and Marion Military College.

The Bobcats finished with a team score of 314, good enough for a 16-shot lead headed into Monday's final round.

Branton Bailey paced Georgia Northwestern with a 3-over-par 75, followed by Adrian Clark with a 78, Lane Strickland with a 79 and David Manis with an 82. Cole Roberts' 87 did not count in the team score.

The scene will shift to Goose Pond Colony in Scottsboro, Ala. for the final 18 holes. The weather forecast to be much more golf-friendly with sunny skies, light winds and temperatures slated to be in the 60's by the afternoon.
