Edna Faye Thomas Shirlen
Edna Faye Thomas Shirlen, age 73, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Thursday afternoon, November 9, 2017 at a local hospital.
Faye was born Jan. 5, 1944 in Chatsworth, Ga., a daughter of the late John Milton and Aline Davis Winters. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Billy Lawrence Thomas and James Thomas Shirlen; and brothers, Gene Winters and Julian Winters; and an infant sister Kathleen Winters.
She was a 1962 graduate of Murray County High School and was retired from S&S Mills.
Faye was always more concerned with others than herself. She loved her family deeply and was always doing for others.
She is survived by her sons, Billy Thomas and Jeffery Thomas, both of Dalton; grandchildren, Lauren Thomas, Marley Thomas and Ryan Thomas; cousins, Sandra and Temple Cloer and Mozella Jackson, all of Chatsworth, GA; and several nieces, nephews and other cousins.
Services to celebrate the life of Edna Faye Thomas Shirlen will be held Sunday, Nov. 12, at 2 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Bruce Beach and Reverend Donnie Caylor officiating.
She will be laid to rest at Tilton Baptist Church Cemetery with her close family and friends serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 4-8 p.m. Saturday and after 12 p.m. Sunday until the service hour.
