Former Georgia State Senator John Black Dies

John C. “J.L.” Black, who was a Georgia state senator for a full term and served again during a special session, died Saturday.

He also was a member of the Dade County Board of Education. 

He had a TV and radio ministry for many years.

Mr.

Black served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. After serving a full term with the Air Force, he enlisted with the United States Army.

He was pastor of Trinity Holiness Church. He retired from Combustion Engineering in 1984. He served as chaplain for the American Legion Post #106 in Trenton, Ga. s and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother Estle Sanders, Brother Ron Case and Brother Jason Wooten officiating. Interment will be held in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held Sunday and Monday 4-8 p.m. and Tuesday 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
