Chattanooga Police said a man barged into a woman's home in the MLK Neighborhood around noon on Tuesday and tried to rape the woman.

Thomas Lee Carr, 28, was taken into custody on Wednesday morning. Carr is charged with one count of attempted rape.

Police said, "The victim was followed by the suspect into her residence where the victim was then attacked. The suspect at that time attempted to rape the victim and then fled the scene."

The victim then called the Chattanooga Police Department to report the incident.

"I want to thank the numerous community members who provided tips that helped Chattanooga Police officers quickly identify, locate and arrest this dangerous man," said SVU Sergeant Scott Bales. "Cooperation and willingness to help others is what makes our city a safer place for everyone."

Photos of the Carr were captured on a video camera.

Police said a woman on the North Shore was raped on Nov. 11 by a man who came into her home while she was sleeping.
