Architect And Urban Designer Matt Winget, AIA, Tapped To Lead Elemi Architects

  • Thursday, March 2, 2017

Elemi Architects announced that Matt Winget, a registered architect and urban designer, will take over leadership as Principal Architect. The announcement comes as former Elemi lead Eric Myers transitions to the role of executive director of Chattanooga Design Studio, a position formerly held by Christian Rushing.

“As Eric continues the legacy of our friend Christian Rushing at the new Chattanooga Design Studio, I will be looking to continue the legacy of Eric and what he created at Elemi Architecture,” said Matt Winget.

A seasoned architect and urban designer of 14 years, Mr. Winget has spent the last six years at Elemi, after working at Polis Studio with Eric Myers and at the original incarnation of the Chattanooga Planning and Design Studio with Stroud Watson, Karen Hundt and Christian Rushing.

“It was working with these mentors that I learned to appreciate the simple, clean, elegant, sustainable solutions that we provide at Elemi,” said Mr. Winget. “We will continue to maintain the high standards and exceptional level of service that our clients expect of Elemi, while looking for new ways to grow and improve.”

Elemi is currently working on the renovation of the Boynton Terrace Apartment towers with the Chattanooga Housing Authority. The firm is also working with Chattanooga Neighborhood Enterprise (CNE) on the construction of The Mai Bell Apartments in Highland Park and with Collier Construction on several single-family homes.

“Elemi’s growth in just the past year has been amazing,” said Mr. Winget. “We’re being presented with many exciting opportunities to do what we do best – environmentally responsible and economically intelligent architecture.”

The Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) designated the firm’s design and development of two medical office complexes in downtown Chattanooga with two of its highest levels of certification. Riverfront Professionals on Riverfront Parkway was awarded LEED Gold and Center for Integrative Medicine on Main Street was awarded LEED Silver.

“We’re very proud of these projects and certifications in particular,” said Mr. Winget. “I’m happy to say Eric Myers will be consulting with our integrated design and construction team on current projects through the remainder of the year to make the transition as smooth as possible. I hope we will have the opportunity to collaborate on future endeavors as Elemi continues to grow and succeed.”
