James Edward Bing, 77, of LaFayette, Georgia, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2017.
He was a member of Harbor Lights Baptist Church. Mr. Bing was co-owner of Shirley’s Truck Stop for 51 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lum Bing and Hettie Mason Bing; sister, Mary Ruth Smith; sister and brother-in-law, Pluma Evelyn (J.W.) Itson; and grandsons, Kenneth Shane Lowery and Kenneth Brown.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Shirley Bing; daughters, Cathy Landon of Orlando, FL, Annette Bing of Summerville, Darlene Pendergrass (Jeff Thomas) of LaFayette, Melissa (Phillip) McCollum of Rome, Kristy Schilling of Clovis, New Mexico and Debbie (Tommy) Lowery of Rome; sons, Lamar Davis of Rock Spring and Michael (Paula) Bing of LaFayette; 17 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Thomas (Donna) Bing and Frank (Eileen) Bing all of Rome; and brother-in-law, Dan Smith of Summerville.
Funeral services in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel will be Wednesday, April 26 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Jim Powell officiating. Interment will follow in LaFayette Memory Gardens. Pallbearers are Terry Mann, Barry DeBoard, Randy Warren, Marshall Kellett, Chad Jackson, Joey Carr, and Jason Dilbeck. Honorary pallbearer is Jim Rook.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday, April 25 from 5-9 p.m.
