William Mayse

William P. “Billy” Mayse, of Soddy Daisy, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 23, 2017. He was 75 years old.

Billy was born in Chapel Hill, N.C., and was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area. He was the founder of Mayse Construction Company. Billy was a member of Middle Cross Baptist Church and a deacon. Billy loved the Lord and his family with all his heart. He was a mason and a shriner. He was a member of AGC and served on the AGC-Associated General Contractors board. He was the last recipient of the highest AGC honor given to a contractor, the SIR Award. He was also a member of the TRBA- Tennessee Road Builders Association and served on the board.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Morris and Ella Gray Mayse; wife of 50 years, Judith M. Mayse; brother, Lloyd O’Neal Mayse and two grandchildren, Whitney and Britney Raines.

Billy is survived by his sons, Bobby (Becky) Mayse and Todd (Pamela) Mayse; daughter, Kim (Matt) Hullender; grandsons, Kyle (Jamie) Mayse, Shane (Katie) Raines, Jason (Tiffany) Mayse, Richie Womack, Austin Mayse and Will Mayse; two great-granddaughters, Aubree Pauley and Savannah Mayse; sister, Judy Bagwell; brother, Dean (Barri) Mayse; brother-in-law, Wayne (Carol) Giles; sister-in-law, Thelma Giles and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Middle Cross Baptist Church, St. Jude and Shriner’s Hospital.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 25, from 4-8 p.m. at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 26, at the funeral home at 2 p.m. with Brother Ed Gravett and Brother Eddie Ellison officitating. A committal service to follow the funeral at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, TN 37343.
