Local cardiologist Dr. William Blalock, a member of Erlanger’s world-class Heart and Lung Institute, is leading an initiative to educate residents of the Dallas Bay community about the importance of learning CPR.
This effort was initially spearheaded by the late Dr.
James Creel, who worked closely with the Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department and local EMS community and wanted area residents to be knowledgeable in CPR. Dr. Creel served as the Director of the Erlanger Regional Operations Center.
On Tuesday, at 7 p.m., Medical Chief Timothy Waldo and other Dallas Bay firefighters, along with Dr. Creel’s family and Dr. Blalock will be at the Dallas Bay Volunteer Department Station #2 to discuss plans for offering CPR classes several times a year at the station and distributing CPR masks to all those who complete the training classes. There will also be a CPR demonstration. The goal is to train 1800 Dallas Bay residents in CPR over the next two years.
The Dallas Bay Station is at 1950 McConnell School Lane in Hixson.
