The Chattanooga Chapter of Hearing Loss Association will present its 2017 fund-raising event Friday starting at 6 p.m. It includes a BBQ dinner; dance entertainment, silent auction and an appearance by WRCB co-anchor David Carroll.

The event will be held in the Fellowship Hall of First Christian Church, 650 McCallie Ave. Tickets are $20, in advance or at the door.

The entire event will be live-captioned for people with hearing loss by Linda Hershey.

The silent auction will be ongoing throughout the event. Members, friends, and businesses have donated a number of quality items that range in price from $6 to $160 – so there is something on which everyone can bid.

During dinner, 14-year-old “Bionic Ballerina,” Madison Cothern, an HLAA member and a recent BAHA hearing aid recipient, will perform with two dance groups that she founded, as well as present a solo ballet number. Her I.M.P.A.C.T. Trio mates include Aleah Sanders and Kylie Davis. Phillips Temple Praise Dancers include Dariyelle Barlow, Michele Henry, Olivia Henry, Kiane Parham, and Aleah Sanders. Madison also dances regularly with the Children’s Company of the Chattanooga Ballet.

Mr. Carroll will share a short history of Chattanooga radio and television, as well as highlights from his new humor book: Volunteer Bama Dawg, at 7:15 p.m. He’ll have copies of Chattanooga Radio and Television and Volunteer Bama Dawg available for purchase and will autograph any book purchased.

The HLAA Chattanooga Chapter raises funds to support its philanthropic efforts that include educational scholarships, camp fee assistance for children and adults, captioning of live theatre events and meetings, HLAA convention assistance, providing assistive equipment to veterans, as well as advocacy and education efforts.
