Dixie Malone, 80, a resident of Cleveland, went to her heavenly home on July 16, 2017 in a local nursing facility.

She was of the Pentecostal faith and was retired from the Bradley County School System. Dixie loved reading her bible every day and writing poetry and plays. She had a passion for serving others and spreading God’s word.

Dixie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Ed Malone; mother, Ruby Burdett; father and step-mom Elvis and Elizabeth Burdett; step-daughter, Ruth Curtis; sister, Margaret May Burdett; brothers, Bobby and Martin, Jr. Burdett.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughters Ann Gilbert (Larry), Ethel Bullington (Tony) of Cleveland, TN, and step-daughter Linda Cain (Charlie) of Corpus Christi, TX; sons Eddie Malone and Phil Malone; grandchildren: Lori Riad (Marc), Kayla Bullington, and Nathaniel Malone all of Cleveland, Robert Curtis (Joy) of Warsaw, KY, and Tammy Baker, Joe “Bubb” Weaver, and Charlie Cain of Corpus Christi, TX; great- grandchildren, Lauren and Braxton Riad, Amber Grace, Austin,and Wyatt Curtis; sister, Delores Jones of Dayton TN; brothers, Bill Burdett (Barbara) of Dayton, OH, Gary Burdett (Janet) of Hamilton, OH, and David Burdett (Lynn) of Harrison, OH. In addition to these, she leaves behind several nieces and nephews and honorary daughters, Brittany, April, Jessica, and Sydney.

A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday July 20, at Companion Funeral Home at 2419 Georgetown RD NW, Cleveland. Interment will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday July 19, at the funeral home.
