J.W. Kelly Of Chattanooga Introduces Old Milford Bourbon To Market

  • Thursday, September 14, 2017

In 1866, J.W. Kelly was the first recorded liquor distillery and dealer in Chattanooga. After 50 years of making much-sought-after fine whiskeys, the company’s production was halted due to Prohibition. Now, 100 years later two friends have reestablished the name, spirit, taste, and tradition of J.W. Kelly & Co. by introducing a classic Old Milford Bourbon. This fine spirit will be available in Tennessee and Georgia in September.

J.W. Kelly National Sales Director and Founder Ryan Kohl started in the beverage industry in 2011. He has been responsible for conducting consumer based seminars all over the southeastern region of the United States and has been accredited in doing more than 1,000 educational seminar tastings, showcasing his knowledge in a wide array of spirits from Single Malt Scotch Whisky, Gin, Cognac, and Armagnac. During his career, he has built strong, close relationships with manufacturers, distributors, retailers, and consumers.

Joe Griffin has an extensive background in management and operations. He began his career in the construction industry after college. After 25 years in construction as a project manager, senior project manager, then division manager, he started his own company. His connection with the Kohl family spurred his interest in the spirits industry. Mr. Griffin leads the management and logistics efforts as the director of operations.

Mr. Kohl and Mr. Griffin have captured the spirit of J.W. Kelly's original bourbon by blending 5-, 6-, and 8-year-old aged whiskeys, hand selected by the JWK crew to create a perfect taste, giving homage to the JWK tradition. It will be a new all-time favorite for whiskey lovers.

Officials said, "The J.W. Kelly Old Milford Straight Bourbon Whiskey is an enticing caramel color with sharp flavor notes of oak, white pepper, vanilla and English toffee. The unique blend tantalizes your palate with honey, baking spice and nutmeg as well as hints of coffee and fine chocolate. The finish is long and warm with distinct flavors of cinnamon, white pepper, and barrel char."
