The Chargers of Chattanooga Christian held on to beat Boyd-Buchanan 21-17 Friday night in a key Divison II region win.
The CCS defense held the Bucs after a fumble with less than a minute left in the game. The Bucs turned the ball over on downs with 5 seconds left in the game and CCS was able to run out the clock.
The Bucs opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 22 yard field goal by Eli Terrell.
CCS scored late in the first after a Boyd-Buchanan fumble. Dylan Clark connected with Jordon Perking for a 28 yard touchdown.
CCS took a 14- 3 lead after Mondo Ellison returned a punt 85 yards for a touchdown.
Boyd-Buchanan quarterback Eli Evans scored from five yards out to close out the first half scoring with 2:10 left. CCS maintained a 14-10 lead at the half.
Both teams would score in the fourth quarter with the Bucs taking the lead early after an Eli Evans 23 yard pass to Kohl Henke. CCS answered with 7:14 left in the game on a another touchdown pass from Clark to Perkins.
The Bucs had 306 total yards on offense. CCS had 209 yards.
Boyd-Buchanan quarterback Eli Evans was 9 for 26 for 119 yards. Evans rushed for 257 yards on 21 attempts.
CCS quarterback Dylan Clark had two completions on four attempts, both for touchdowns.
CCS running back Mondo Ellison rushed 25 times for 109 yards.
