Several University Of The South Students Seriously Injured In SUV Crash Near South Pittsburg

Several college students were seriously injured in an SUV crash near South Pittsburg on Friday night.

Four of 11 students from the University of the South at Sewanee in the vehicle had to be airlifted.

The wreck happened around 10:30 p.m. in the 1500 block of Highway 156.

It was a single-vehicle crash with the vehicle going off the road, over-correcting, then flipping and rolling down an embankment.

Some of those in the vehicle were able to walk away uninjured.

No deaths have been reported.

The wreck was several miles from the Franklin County line.
