Chattanooga Under Winter Weather Advisory With Snow On The Way; Most Schools To Close

Chattanooga is under a Winter Weather Advisory for Tuesday with snow expected.

Hamilton County Schools will be closed Tuesday "due to the significant threat of snow in the area during the school day."

All school age childcare will also be closed.

All central office staff should report at the normal time.

Chattanooga State as well as Chattanooga College will close Tuesday.

Also set to close on Tuesday are Bradley County Schools, Chattanooga Christian School, Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy, Chattanooga Charter School for Excellence, Belvoir Christian Academy, St. Jude School, Silverdale Baptist Academy, Grace Baptist Academy, Calvary Christian School, Catoosa County Schools, Dade County Schools, Chickamauga Schools, Berean Academy, Athens City Schools, McMinn County Schools, Walker County, and Etowah City Schools.

Cleveland City Schools will close. Twelve-month employees will work a half day. 

Whitfield County Schools will be closed for students and staff on Tuesday.

Hamilton County Highway Department road crews on Monday were spreading brine on main county arteries in preparation for Tuesday's anticipated snow event.

The Tennessee Valley Republican Women's meeting will be postponed until the following Tuesday.

Stellar Therapy Pediatric Clinic will be closed Tuesday due to weather.

The front is expected to bring 1-3 inches of snow to the Tennessee Valley.

Bitterly cold temperatures are in store for Tuesday night. The wind chill factor will bring temperatures to near the zero level.

By next Sunday, Chattanoogans will be enjoying 60 degree weather, however.
