PHOTOS: Aerial Shots Of Lupton City Property From Recent Years

Tuesday, January 23, 2018 - by John Shearer

Buddy Fogo of Fogo Realty passed along some aerial photos of the Lupton City property taken about the time he had the site under option with an out-of-town development firm before the group began developing another piece of property.

The warm season photos show the more than 200 acres of land apparently just before demolition started on the old former Dixie Yarns mill complex about 2013.

A large wooded area can be seen between the Lupton City Golf Course and the Tennessee River.

The property had been purchased by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee in recent years after the insurer initially eyed the land as a company campus. But the tract was put on the market after the firm built its new headquarters on Cameron Hill in recent years. The land was recently acquired by Riverton LLC, which plans a diverse housing, park space and town center development.

Reflections On Billy Graham

Sandra and I are saddened this morning after learning of the death of Billy Graham. We rejoice today, because Mr. Graham once said "It will be reported that Billy Graham has died, but that won't be the truth. He said the truth is that he had only moved to a new location".  I remember when we named 15th Street as Billy Graham Avenue, his daughter Gigi came for the dedication ... (click for more)

Roy Exum: Me & Billy Graham

For several years in my life it seemed my bad arm and I spent more time at Mayo Clinic than we did in my own house. I hold the record for the most different infections in an elbow at the same time, and my medical charts never had my name on them, instead I was simply, “Mr. Complication.” One morning in particular I spent a horrible three hours in the “nerve conduction lab” with ...
