A five-month-old child has been removed from a Hixson couple after heroin was found next to a gallon jug used for baby formula.
Hannah Jo Smith, 23, was arrested at 4609 Plaza Hills Lane, Apt. B.
She was charged with possession of heroin for resale, possession of meth for resale, possession of drug paraphernalia, and child neglect. She is held on $75,000 bond.
Joseph Dillon Woodward, 24, was arrested on Tuesday in Walker County, Ga. He is being charged with possession of heroin for resale, possession of meth for resale, possession of drug paraphernalia, child endangerment, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Ms. Smith said the couple has been selling heroin for two years.
Officers conducted a search of the residence on Thursday after a detective purchased heroin from the couple using a confidential source.
Officers found three packages containing 54 grams of heroin, another small bag of heroin, three packages containing 58 grams of meth, four and a half methadone wafers, 15 Xanax bars, four pills, two sets of digital scales, $1,649 in cash, and a Winchester 12-gauge shotgun loaded with four shells.
A 2006 Nissan Altima was seized.
Officers said some of the heroin was found unpackaged lying on aluminum foil in the kitchen.
The child resided in the residence with the couple.
Child Protective Services was called and came to take the child.
