Boat Fire Friday Afternoon At Island Cove Marina

  • Friday, January 26, 2018

A boat fire at Island Cove Marina, 6701 Highway 58, was reported Friday at 3:20 p.m. Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department responded and arrived on the scene where a 25-foot cruiser boat was on fire in the slough of Island Cove Marina.

Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department responded with their fire boat to help assist Highway 58 VFD with the boat fire.

An Island Cove Marina resident saw the boat on fire and immediately released the boat, forced it out into the slough away from the boat slip to avoid catching the entire dock of boats on fire.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and no injuries were reported. Fire officials said the owners of the boat had been running the boat this morning, returned from the lake and left the marina. Moments later, they receive a call from Island Cove Marina reporting their boat was on fire.

Damages are listed at $75,000-$80,000.

Hamilton County Hazmat team is responding to the scene to contain a possible fuel spill from the charred boat.
