Cleveland State Splits Matchup Against Columbia State

Cleveland State's men's and women's basketball teams took on Columbia State on Saturday. The men's team lost by a score of 87 to 58 while the Lady Cougars won 74 to 65.

Josh Parker led the Cougars with 18 points and 2 assists. Cam Copeland contributed 10 points and 2 rebounds while Mohanna Sanders added 9 points and 1 block. Victor Curry had 7 points and 3 rebounds. After the loss to Columbia State, the Cougars now sit at 10-8 (6-5). 

As for the Lady Cougars they won their matchup by a score of 74 to 65. 4 out of the 5 starts scored in the double digits while Abby Hubert led the Lady Cougars with a resounding 24 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Julia Gaither added 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Ebony Kelley totaled 14 points and 3 rebounds while Keya Jenkins scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. The women's basketball team cruised to a 9 point victory while holding Columbia State to only 11 points in the first and fourth quarters. This win puts the Lady Cougars at 11-7 (6-5) and has then on a 2 game win streak.

Cleveland State will be in action again on Friday, Feb. 2, at home against Motlow State. Men play at 5:30 p.m., and women play at 7:30 p.m.
