Reception For Harold Wilkes To Follow Services On Saturday

  • Friday, January 5, 2018
Funeral services for Harold Wilkes, the former football player, coach and athletic director at UT-Chattanooga, will be held at the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Saturday at 2 p.m. and due to Harold’s immense popularity, the family has agreed to a reception following the services in the Fellowship Hall of the church.
A large number of the athletes that Harold has coached will attend the service and the reception will give them an opportunity to greet the family and share memories of Coach Wilkes with one another, according to family spokesman Ron Wade.
The church is at 1505 North Moore Road and arrangements for an additional “Players Reception,” to be held later Saturday afternoon, are still incomplete but the times and location will be announced at the service.
Ironically, the “Players Reception” will include adult beverages that were expressly forbidden his Mocs by Coach Wilkes.
In lieu of flowers, a Scholarship Fund will be established by the UC Foundation and donations can be sent to the UTC Moc Club, 615 McCallie Ave., Chattanooga, Tn. 37402. Please make donations payable to “UC Foundation” with the earmark: “Wilkes Scholarship.”
