Police Say Teen Who Was Shot And Killed Saturday Had Gunned Down Another Teen The Day Before

  • Thursday, October 4, 2018
Chattanooga Police said they found proof that a teen who was shot and killed last Saturday had shot and killed another teen the previous day.

Te'unte Rice, 18, was killed last Friday in the 2000 block of Windsor Street.

Areeyon Lane, also 18, was gunned down the next day at 1330 E. Third St.

Police said, "A firearm consistent with the one used to shoot and kill Te'unte Rice was found in Areeyon Lane's possession when he was killed.

"Ballistics testing through the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN) resulted in a high confidence correlation that the weapon found on Areeyon Lane was the firearm used to kill Te'unte Rice.

"Several witnesses identified the suspect to police as Areeyon Lane."

Members of the Major Crimes Bureau continue to actively investigate this incident.

The Chattanooga Police Department encourages anyone with information about the incident to please call the Homicide Tip Line at (423) 643-5100 or submit a tip through the Chattanooga PD mobile app. You can remain anonymous.
