“Hello Series”, a new series of paintings by local artist Jane Newman, was just delivered to Reflections Gallery on Lee Highway.

The “Hello Series” is an ongoing series of paintings inspired by an appreciation of phone design evolution over history. The acrylic on canvas paintings are executed using a duotone scheme utilizing layers of underpainting to create surface texture. In addition, obvious brushstrokes create a romantic feel of nostalgia mixed with a modern flair for retro that the subject matter alludes.

Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Visit www.janefnewman.com to see other work.

Think of it as sort of a “co-op” for my readers to enjoy. When The Saturday Funnies began last summer, it was what I still think is ... (click for more)
