Coahulla Creek Head Coach Dean Thompson has decided to add college coaching to his resume, agreeing to become the new Cross Country/Track coach for Dalton State.
"We are privileged to announce the hiring of Dean Thompson to lead our cross country and track & field program," said DS Athletic Director Jon Jaudon. "Dean has an accomplished competitive background in running and combines that with excellent integrity and character. I just wish I had a daughter still at home who could run and learn life lessons under his leadership."
Mr.
Thomas ran cross country and track at Georgia Tech. He is the oldest runner to ever win the Myrtle Beach Marathon (47 years old). He is a two-time Chattanooga Track Club Runner of the Year
Run for God National Race Director since 2014. He led Coahulla Creek to 8th (Girls) and 11th (Boys) place finishes at Georgia State Championship Meet in his first year.
"I am very excited to be part of the tradition of excellence that has been the essence of Dalton State Cross Country & Track since inception," said Mr. Thompson. "I hope to continue that course and build upon the success of the excellent coaches that I am following."
Mr. Thompson will get his first taste of college action this Spring when the Roadrunners hit the track.
