A joint investigation by special agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the White County Sheriff’s Department and the office of the 13th District Attorney General has resulted in the arrest of a Minnesota college student, Joshua Jordi, on a murder charge.

At the request of 13th District Attorney General Bryant Dunaway, on March 8, TBI special agents joined deputies and DA investigators in investigating the death of Timothy Jordi, 50, who was found deceased at this home in Sparta.

Earlier that day, county dispatchers received a request to check on the welfare of Mr. Jordi after he failed to show up at work. Deputies responded to the victim’s Washington Street home and found him dead. An autopsy determined Mr. Jordi was the victim of a homicide.

During the course of the investigation, agents developed information that indicated the victim’s son, Joshua Jordi, a college student at Minnesota State University, was the individual responsible for his father’s death.

On Monday, investigators served Joshua Nathaniel Jordi, 21, with a warrant, charging him with one count of first-degree murder.

Jordi was arrested and booked into the Blue Earth County Jail in Mankato, Mn., where he awaits extradition to Tennessee. Jordi’s bond was set at $1.5 million.

The visitation services for Timothy Jordi will be held on Thursday at Chattanooga Funeral Home East Chapel. Reverend Mark Habermas of Silverdale Baptist Church and Ps Bobby Schoolfield will be officiating.

Timothy Jordi graduated from Blaine High School in 1985 and continued on to receive a bachelor of theology from Pensacola Bible Institute.

Family members said, "His love for the spoken word and his undying love for God the Almighty knew no limits. Timothy worked as a senior business/system analyst for BBB Industries for four years. He enjoyed canoeing, hiking, kayaking, sleeping, picking on family and laughing. He was also an active member of a local Canoe Club and enjoyed spending time with his extended family at Victory Baptist Church. Tim spent a lot of time with his younger brother John, learning the art of kayaking."

Survivors include his mother, Deanna; his siblings, Michael, Lena, Julie, Stephen, Thomas, John and Anne; his son Ethan, nieces and nephews.

Burial will follow the funeral at Hamilton Memorial Gardens on Friday, March 16, at 10:30 a.m.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Chattanooga Funeral Home at 404 South Moore Road, East Ridge, Tn. 37412.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Victory Baptist Church at 1765 East First Street, Crossville, Tn., to further Tim’s goals of the spreading the Gospel at home, as well as foreign missions.
