Senators Perdue, Corker, Other Politicians Comment On North Korea Summit

Tuesday, June 12, 2018

Senator David Perdue, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, commented on the United States’ summit with North Korea.

He said, “This critical summit is happening because of President Trump’s leadership and unwavering resolve to make the world a safer place.

We want to move toward the objectives President Trump has laid out: total denuclearization, as well as a potential peace treaty to end the Korean War, with reunification talks down the road. President Trump and Secretary Pompeo deserve an enormous amount of credit from the global community for getting North Korea talking and engaging in a productive way. The Trump Administration has my full confidence as they move forward in these key talks.”

Senator Bob Corker, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, commented after President Donald J. Trump met with Kim Jong Un in Singapore.

“While I am glad the president and Kim Jong Un were able to meet, it is difficult to determine what of concrete nature has occurred,” said Senator Corker. “I look forward to having Secretary Pompeo before our committee soon to share his insights and look forward to carrying out our oversight responsibilities.”

Congressman Chuck Fleischmann issued a statement in recognition of the historic U.S. – North Korea Summit:  “Last night, President Trump exemplified what it means to be a leader, becoming the first sitting president of the United States to meet with a North Korean head of state. I applaud the President for taking this courageous step and I am hopeful that despite North Korea’s history of deception, this summit marks the beginning of a new era of relations between North Korea and the United States. As Secretary of State Mike Pompeo leads U.S. negotiators in follow-up discussions with their North Korea counterparts, incorporating the knowledge of experts from the Department of Energy and the National Nuclear Security Administration will be of paramount importance. Much of this expertise resides in Oak Ridge, Tennessee and I look forward to continuing to support NNSA’s nonproliferation mission. While there is still a great amount of work that lies ahead, this summit was a tremendous first step and marked yet another milestone for the Trump Administration.”

Roy Exum: The Saturday Funnies

I have to admit I am still laughing over the fact over 350 newspapers ganged up against President Trump’s stance on Thursday that the media is biased towards his administration. In a concerted effort these newspaper editors proved Trump to be exactly right. How in the name of common sense could any man, event, or natural phenomena cause every newspaper to unite is such a laughable ... (click for more)
