Bo Waters
Bo Waters, 85, a lifelong resident of Old Fort, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2018, at the family residence.
He was the son of the late Jim and Roxie Waters and was also preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Waters, his grandson, Tommy Waters and granddaughter, Samantha Hayes along with several brothers and his sister.
Bo loved to garden and was an accomplished bluegrass musician playing a variety of instruments including the banjo, fiddle, guitar and mandolin, playing all by ear. At one time he had an offer to move to Nashville but didn’t want to leave his family. He passed on his musical talent by teaching his great grandson and son to play. His greatest love however was his grandchildren who he loved greatly.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Jo Barnes Waters, his daughters, Mary Lynn and her husband, Jimmy and Hazel Waters, four grandchildren and many great and great-great- grandchildren.
A Remembrance of Life Service will be held graveside on Tuesday at 12 p.m. at Boanerges Baptist Church Cemetery with family and friends sharing their memories and stories of Bo.
Casket bearers will be Jeremy Jones, Josh Jones, Tevin Scott, Bobby Banks, Tim Womac and Sammy Jones.
The family will receive friends Monday, from 5-8 p.m. at Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Serivces Wildwood Avenue Chapel.
