Brandon Hendricks, 37, confessed to shooting and killing his wife following an argument after which she pulled the family car to the side of Dayton Pike in Soddy Daisy. Hendricks was arrested for criminal homicide on Saturday after calling police and confessing what he had done.

Officers said when victim Joanie Hendricks, 39, told the defendant to get out of the car, he took out his revolver and fired multiple shots at his wife. Ms. Hendricks, who worked at Middle Valley Animal Hospital in Hixson, was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police say the couple’s seven-year-old son was in the back seat of the car at the time of the slaying. Family members said they were expecting the Hendricks at a birthday party for the child.

A GoFundMe memorial page has been set up “to provide some peace” for the Hendricks’ son. Almost $7,000 has been raised, and the Soddy Daisy community is planning a weekend birthday party for the seven-year-old.
