A Star Party will be offered at Cloudland Canyon State Park on Aug. 18. It will be sponsored by the staff and Friends of Cloudland Canyon State Park and conducted by the Barnard Astronomical Society.
Organizers said, "Come see the wonders of the night sky through our telescopes. Venus, Jupiter, Mars and Saturn will be visible this night.
The moon will also be in a good position. We will be identifying Summer Constellations. As always we will also be observing DSO's (Deep Sky Objects) like star clusters, nebulae and other galaxies like our own Milky Way."
The event will be at the starting point of the Disc Golf Course from 8-10 p.m. Astronomy programs are free to all. The usual parking fee at the park applies.
If the weather is “iffy”, call 941 544-3420 after 6 p.m. that day for updates.
