Autumn Gibson, who was arrested Friday following a June 7 home invasion at the Rustic Village Apartments in which a man was shot, told police she drove three people there for a holdup.

Ms. Gibson, 21, is charged with attempted criminal homicide and especially aggravated robbery in the incident in which  Miguel Doriste, 38, was shot in the face.

Chattanooga police said Mr. Doriste said he allowed two women to enter his apartment. He said one of the women advised him to lock the front door, and when he heard a loud bang, he knew he was shot in the face.

He said he fell to the ground as two unknown black males demanded money from him. He said one brandished a black pistol in his face, threatening to shoot him again. The victim told officers he was afraid the men would kill him, so he decided to play dead. He said the suspects went through his pockets and tossed items around inside his apartment before fleeing.

During an interview with police, Ms. Gibson stated she drove three people - Brianna, R.J., and R.J.’s brother - to Mr. Doriste’s apartment. She said Brianna needed money and had been advised that Mr. Doriste would pay $40 for sex. Ms. Gibson said after Brianna entered and exited Mr. Doriste’s apartment, she and Brianna re-entered so she could use the restroom.

Ms. Gibson told officers she fled after hearing a gunshot. She said she waited in her vehicle. She stated that soon after, R.J., his brother, and Brianna returned with a long gun and a TV. She said once the three were at the vehicle, they stated they shot Mr. Doriste.

After reviewing evidence obtained from the investigation and Ms. Gibson’s statement, officers determined there was probable cause to charge Ms. Gibson with the serious charges due to her being an accomplice in the shooting and robbery.
