Frank “Woody” Woods, Sr., 77, of Ooltewah, passed away on Monday, August 13, 2018, in a local hospital. 

He was a graduate of Howard High School Class of 1959, Southern Technical Institute and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Woody was a veteran of the United States Air Force and retired from E.I dupont de Nemours and the State of Tennessee. He was a member of the East Third Street Church of Christ and a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated.  From his youth, Woody loved airplanes and became a licensed pilot.  He built and flew detailed model planes and built boats as well. 

He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael B. Woods. 

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mizora "Tina" Gary Woods; daughters, Tracy (Ellis) Sam and Kellye Woods; son, Frank (Miranda) Woods, Jr.;  grandchildren, Chasity (Donnell) Myers, Kayla Sam, Frank "Trey" Woods, III, Nadia Woods, Aryanna Woods and Nicholas Woods; great-grandchildren, Joshua Myers and Kadence Myers; brother, David (Willena) Woods; fraternal nephews, Michael Woods and David Woods, II; fraternal niece, Jasmine Woods; sisters-in-law, Brenda Woods, Elnora Kirby, Elizabeth Bonds and Minnie Witcher; life-long and devoted friends, Vaughn “Pago” Phipps, Johnny Patmon, Yarnell and Bonny Cooke; his trusted Labrador Retriever, Willie-G and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. 

Woody will lie in state on Monday, Aug. 20, after noon at Taylor Funeral Home. 

Funeral services will be on Tuesday, Aug. 21, at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel with Brother John R. Taylor, Sr. as the eulogist.  Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

David Lindsay Bishop, Jr.

David Lindsay Bishop, Jr., 86, a resident of Chattanooga, passed away October 21, 2018. He was born on Dec. 21, 1931, to the late Annie Elizabeth and David L. Bishop Sr.  David was a former employee at the Chattanooga Times from 1951 till 1982.  In 1979 he and Lydia, who were avid runners, opened Bishop’s Running Center on Cassandra Smith Road.  He won more ... Jeffrey Lynn King, 54, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday morning, October 21, 2018, at his home. He was born on Nov. 13, 1963. WWTA Releases Timetable That Would Have Ooltewah Sewage Treatment Plant In Operation By 2025; Public Meetings Set At Central High

Mark Hazelwood's Attorneys Ask That He Be Allowed To Spend Christmas With His Family

Attorneys for former Pilot Travel Centers president Mark Hazelwood are asking that he be allowed to spend Christmas with his family before self-reporting to begin serving a 12 years and six months federal prison sentence.
